Talk About Blyton!

Famous Five – Target Age

May 10, 2014 – Jan j says: I would like to know what age group these books were aimed for. I was always a reader as a child but have no recollection of Enid or her books. Were different series for children of different ages?
Bets says... Bets says: The best thing about Blyton's work is that no specific age groups are mentioned. Any child can read them at any time. However, most 10 year olds should find the Famous Five enjoyable, while 12+s might find the Adventure series more appealing.
August 9, 2017 – MikeConley says: I don't think books require age limits. A book can be enjoyed at any age and by anybody.
August 9, 2017 – Avan N. Cooverji says: I too like to read any book whose title or stories interest me and they need not be adult literature. I enjoy reading childrens books and fairy tales though I am old at seventy four years of age.
November 22, 2019 – Maggie M says: Most of EB's works would probably appeal to everyone (depending on likes and dislikes) but as you get older you begin to realise more errors or things you disliked. A bit of Secret Seven or probably a few from The Five Find-Outers will probably apply more than others like The Famous Five, which will (most likely) always be as iconic as it was when Enid was still here.
